Who We Are
Breckland Alliance Research brings together Grove Surgery and School Lane Surgery in Thetford, alongside Watton Medical Practice, to deliver high-quality clinical research within the community.
We began running studies in 2015 and since then have been committed to giving our patients the opportunity to take part in important studies that help shape the future of healthcare. To date, more than 5,000 participants from our surgeries have contributed to research, with many choosing to take part in multiple studies.
We are proud to have grown beyond our original practices to now be recognised as the NIHR Breckland and Norfolk Region Primary Care Commercial Research Delivery Centre, one of fourteen hubs across England.
By welcoming participants from across Breckland and Norfolk, we are expanding access to research opportunities and helping improve care for our wider communities.

What We Do
We help the NHS and other partners test new treatments through safe, high-quality clinical research. Our studies span a wide range of health conditions and include work involving new medicines, new medical devices, questionnaires, focus groups, and observational research. These projects help test innovative treatments before they become widely available, evaluate new technologies designed to improve patient care, gather people’s experiences to shape future services, and monitor how existing treatments perform in real-world settings. All studies are carefully regulated and delivered by our dedicated research team.
Our centre is committed to improving access to clinical trials for people across the Eastern Region of the UK, with a particular focus on communities that are underrepresented or most affected by poor health. By widening participation and ensuring fairer access to new treatments and innovations, including medicines and vaccines, we aim to help people live healthier and longer lives.
Why Take Part
