Baxdrostat (CIN-107) – A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was conducted to assess the effect of baxdrostat on ambulatory blood pressure in participants with resistant hypertension. Sponsored by AstraZeneca, the study was carried out across 106 clinical sites in 22 countries, providing a broad and diverse participant population to support the robustness and generalisability of the findings. The study confirmed that the participants closely matched the real-world population of patients with resistant high blood pressure. Baxdrostat at a 2 mg dose significantly outperformed placebo in lowering blood pressure over 24 hours, including during night-time, when used alongside at least three existing blood pressure medications. These benefits were seen consistently across all patient subgroups. Importantly, baxdrostat was generally well tolerated, with side effects in line with what would be expected based on how the medication works.
